This example of an R55 single-ended 'A' unit diesel dates from about 1956 and has an X04 motor.
This matching R57 'B' unit dates from about the same time.
The final part of the
threesome is this dummy A unit
Here's a later version with the all red cab to hide the mould lines
And a Canadian livery version from around 1965
This R159 Double-ended diesel was bought at Warley Model Railway Exhibition at the NEC in October 1999. This is the second series with the widely spaced 'Tri-ang Railways' lettering on the side dating from around 1962.
A double ended dummy missing a pilot and fuel tank but picked up for next to nothing.
PS I now have a fuel tank
This R159 Double-ended diesel was bought for £15 from Reading vintage swapmeet in February 2001 and is in the final livery with TR badges
This TC switcher from about 1962 was purchased at the Warley exhibition in 1999. It needs a clean up, a replacement rear handrail and slight touching up of the dazzle stripes
A very nice Pacific dating from circa 1954 bought at the Alresford Vintage Train Show in June 2001 for a very reasonable price. I've seen
a lot worse!
This nice and complete R56 Baltic tank circa 1956 was picked up at the TCS exhibition of June 2001.
I finally ran this model of 'Davy Crockett' to ground at the TCS meeting in Biggleswade in early 2002
Another restoration project is this double ended electric loco R 257. Two pantographs, a pilot, a coupling and a fuel tank should improve it! One of less than 11,000
made, this one was picked up for a tenner from Nottingham in 2000.
This Transcontinental yard switcher
needs a bit of TLC
This one was picked for a fiver but has no lettering nor TR shield. Hopefully when transfers become available this will be addressed.
The continental
prairie tank (original model) is amongst the most expensive locos I've
bought
